REWRITING & SONGWRITING
This week, we began the rewriting process with the plays we’d selected last week. We worked in teams, with teachers, and individually to revisit our climate change related themes and how they played in each piece. Already, we’re seeing minor characters develop into major characters and are discovering unexpected plot twists!
We were also visited by our composer Wesley Zurick who led a songwriting workshop. We explored different genres of music, and learned how to make a basic rhyme scheme and song structure. Then each playwriting team went to work constructing songs for their plays. They met individually with Wes, who translated the students’ ideas onto the piano– eventually these will turn into full-fledged numbers which we will perform live at our culminating production in April!
