From the Classroom: STORIES THAT INSPIRE!

This week, we worked with the students to make a final selection of plays for our Big Green Theater performance in April. We guided discussion as the kids chose drafts that touched on all the various environmental issues we have learned about in the past couple of months – and we made sure they picked stories that inspired them!

With all the pieces selected, we transitioned into part two of Big Green Theater. In the next month, we will be learning about lighting and set design, songwriting, and other important aspects of theatrical production.

On Thursday, we had a guest artist present a theatrical design workshop with the students. We ended the week by guiding the students in creating tableau versions of their plays, and giving feedback on the plot progression and conflict in each story. We translated this into our writing and ended the day expanding on all of our drafts!
